We are glad you are interested and hope to be able to inform, educate and encourage you in your career pursuit. ADAC Program Info: The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling Program prepares the student for positions in public and private sectors, including state, federal, and local agencies, as well as and private practices. The student is exposed to a variety of learning experiences. The ADAC Program focuses on both theoretical and practical knowledge in working with chemically dependent individuals and their families. Students have the opportunity to develop skills which will enable him/her to work with individuals or groups that have been effected by substance use/abuse. The ADAC program at Midland College is an accredited institution. Upon completion of the program the student will have surpassed the minimal requirements stated by Texas Department of State Health Services to apply for Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor - Intern. The Associate of Applied Science degree program in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling is designed to prepare students to function as licensed chemical dependency counselors, with the ability to work in a broad range of treatment settings such as residential and outpatient programs, detoxification units, halfway houses, and private practices. Many ADAC Program graduates choose to continue their educations and to include the bachelor’s and master’s degree levels. Upon completion of the ADAC Program, students may choose to complete their Bachelor’s of Applied Technology degree at Midland College, thus receiving their 4-year degree in the atmosphere of Midland College.
