Student Publications • Scholarships

The Midland College Communication Program offers scholarships to students who are interested in journalism and are recommended by their high school teachers or counselors. The college is uniquely able to award this financial aid through the Allison Journalism Endowment. It covers two full years as long as students pursue a minimal set of communication classes and maintain full-time status.

Why Midland College? If offers an opportunity to begin a mass communications college experience the minute a student steps on campus. Students produce copy, photographs and unique page designs for MC's award-winning newspaper and magazines. It also offers experience with a new online student publication at Some staff positions at MC are paid positions.
MC also eases the transition to the college experience through small classes and one-on-one instruction. Students leaving the MC program have found strong acceptance for their course work and abilities at four-year schools. MC's reputation is well known, and its students have stepped into staff positions at Texas State University, Texas Tech University, University of North Texas, Angelo State University, University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at the Permian Basin, and numerous other institutions.

Two state-wide conventions each year allow MC students to make valuable contacts for financial aid, internships, and eventually full-time jobs.
