Exploring America's Roots | Thistle and Shamrock
Travel courses offer an exciting learning laboratory full of experiences, opportunities, and connections. They are also a great way to earn extra credits. Midland College has offered several exciting national and international travel courses across several disciplines. Most travel courses are offered in the spring and summer. As plans for these courses become available, more information will be provided below.
After a 3 year break, MC will resume offering its government/history travel courses during the first summer session of 2012, June 4-July 11. Students can receive up to 6 hours credit by taking two government and/or history courses. The courses consist of 3 weeks of regular classroom instruction culminating in a field trip to the Northeastern U.S. (June 26-July 7).

The 12-day field trip will include stays in Boston (3 nights), New York City (3 nights), Philadelphia (1 day), and Washington, D.C. (5 nights). Instructor-led tours will include Plymouth Plantation, the Mayflower, New York City, Independence Hall, Mount Vernon and Monticello. The cost of the field trip is $1,945 (based on quadruple occupancy), which does not include tuition for the courses.
Interested students can hold a spot for the courses by contacting Lee Almaguer ( ferleeal@midland.edu ), Todd Houck ( thouck@midland.edu ) or Monica Sosa ( msosa@midland.edu ) and placing a $500 deposit with the Midland College cashier's office. We are pleased to announce the formation of the next English/ Art Study/Travel Tour to Ireland and Scotland in June 2013.

Places visited in Ireland: Killarney, Blarney, Rock of Cahsel, Dublin
Places visited in Scotland: Holyhead, Lake District, Edinburgh, the Highlands, the Isle of Skye, Glasgow
Comprehensive cost: $5085 (includes airfare, ground transportation, hotels, passes, guides, ferry,two meals a day).

Any and all are invited from MC, Midland, and the surrounding communities and states. Students can also enroll for credit in English 2333: World Literature from 1800 and Appreciation of Art or can just go for the fun, education, and fellowship of the group.
