Dr. Sonia Ford is a professor of Mathematics, teaching a variety of courses including College Algebra, Business Math, Precalculus, and Calculus. Her undergraduate degree is from Eastern New Mexico University and has earned a master’s degree in Mathematics from Eastern New Mexico University and a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Texas Tech University. She has also earned a doctorate degree in Instructional Technology with a focus in online learning. She has a passion for teaching both in class and online and has been teaching at Midland College since 2001. She has presented at several conferences regarding online mathematics learning and continues to research learning strategies and tools for online course delivery. Outside of her teaching responsibilities she enjoys traveling and running.
Sarah Hildebrand, Math Faculty

Sarah Hildebrand is a Mathematics Instructor. She was a dual credit instructor at Midland High School for 3 years before joining the Midland College faculty full-time in 2014. She teaches College Algebra, Fundamentals of Math I and II (also referred to as Teacher's Math), and Calculus I and II. She received her Master's of Science in Mathematics from Texas A&M University in 2011, her Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics from UTPB in 2008, and her Associate's of Science in Mathematics from Midland College in 2006. Sarah is also a member of the SOS (Supporting our Students) Group. Sarah has a wonderful husband, a beautiful daughter, and two awesome dogs. She is a native Midlander who enjoys spending time with her family, reading, gaming, and working on various craft and DIY projects.

Joseph Severino, Math Faculty
Linda Penny is a Professor of Mathematics. She has taught at Midland College since 1999. She has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Biology from Texas A & M University and a master’s degree in Mathematics from Texas A & M University. Some of the courses Linda teaches are Statistics, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Business Math, and Calculus. During her spare time, she enjoys her grandchildren, traveling and gourmet cooking.

Lori Thomas, Math Faculty
Joseph Severino, an Associate Professor of Mathematics, joined Midland College's full-time math faculty in 2005. Previously he worked as an adjunct math instructor at Texas Tech University (1998-2001) and Midland College (2002-2005). Joseph is a native Texan and graduated from Midland Lee High School, later earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Austin College in 1998 and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from Texas Tech in 2001. Primarily he teaches the Calculus courses and Differential Equations in addition to an assortment of College Algebra and other freshman level classes. Joseph sponsors the Midland College Anime Club which meets weekly during the semester. His other hobbies include reading, gaming, and creating electronic music.

Lori Thomas came to Midland College as an adjunct mathematics instructor in 2006 and became a full-time mathematics instructor in 2009. She grew up in Colorado where she attend Colorado School of Mines for two years before transferring to Metropolitan State College in Denver where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and her secondary teaching certificate in May 1991. After graduation, she taught high school and community college level math before obtaining a Master of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics with an emphasis on statistics from the University of Central Oklahoma in December 2002. Since then, she has enjoyed teaching at the University of Central Oklahoma, Judson University in Illinois and here at Midland College. Lori has a great husband, 2 wonderful children, and 2 sweet dogs! She loves teaching and spending time with her family!
Melissa McHale, Ph.D., Pre-Engineering Faculty
Dr. McHale is an Adjunct Professor in Engineering and Biology and has been a member of the Midland College community since 2011. Prior to coming to Midland College, Dr. McHale worked as a research scientist at Rice University in Houston where her research in the field of biomaterials focused on hydrogels for tissue engineering. On campus, you may find Dr. McHale teaching Engineering Mechanics (Statics and Dynamics) and Anatomy and Physiology lab. When she's not teaching, Dr. McHale reviews and edits scientific publications and enjoys spending time with her family.
