Academics • Travel Courses • Ecuador, Spring 2014

ecuador equator Dear Adventurer,

Get ready for our next adventure!  On March 16, 2014, we will depart for an adventure to Ecuador to enjoy its many and varied experiences.  During these days we will visit the modern city of Quito with its soaring skyscrapers and Spanish Colonial cathedrals.  From Quito we will travel to the Avenue of the Volcanoes at an elevation of 15,000 feet then, begin our descent into the Amazon River basin and the rainforest.  After a swim in the pool of a waterfall in the jungle, a visit with a shaman and a visit to a Quichua village, we will head back to enjoy the equinox in Quito.  Our last days will be spent shopping in Otavalo which is known throughout South America as THE market.  Once again, we will have Dr. Edwin Barnhart along with us to lead the cultural and astronomy portions of the trip.  I will guide us through the biological experiences.
