STARLINK is the oldest and most successful satellite and Internet-based educational network in the country. It provides innovative Ideas, cutting-edge experts, and state-of-the-art training. As an agency of the Texas Association of Community Colleges, STARLINK offers cost-effective, high quality and dynamic learning opportunities to educational institutions, state agencies and other public entities.
The STARLINK network currently provides regular professional development programming to 108 member colleges and, universities in 27 states and Canada. In addition, hundreds more schools license our programs on an individual basis. Since becoming operational in the fall of 1989, STARLINK has produces and/or distributed 190 professional development and informational teleconferences via satellite and the intern et reaching more than a quarter million educators. This amounts to almost 350 hours of training and information. About another 100 hours of training have been delivered via the Internet. STARLINK has won numerous national and regional awards for quality programming and has been rated as one of the top training networks in the United States by the U.S. Distance Learning Association. STARLINK’S program approval rating by viewers over its thirteen years averages 96%.
In addition to providing professional development to schools throughout Texas and the nation STARLINK has produced programming in association with organiza tions such as the U.S. Department of Education, Microsoft, IBM, the PBS Adult Learning Service, March of Dimes, Education Commission of the States, Association of Community College Trustees, Southern Region Educational Board, and the IRS.
