 VEHICLE MAKE-READY/DRIVER

The Vehicle Make Ready/Driver will assist the College Vehicle Mechanic in the “make ready” duties before a vehicle is used. These duties will be scheduled by the Vehicle Mechanic. In addition, this position will sometimes be required to drive one of the College buses to athletic events and other departmental trips.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspect and maintain all vehicle safety and emergency equipment
• Shuttle vehicles to repair shop, car wash, etc.
• Keep vehicles in a clean, safe and mechanically sound condition prior to use
• Maintain Commercial Driver’s License for College bus driving purposes on an available basis
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience as a vehicle make ready person, and maintain vehicles in a  mechanically sound operating condition
• Able to maintain all college vehicles and ground’s equipment
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Ability and agility to climb a ladder
• Texas State CDL required
• Must attend Midland College’s CDL class
• Be insurable on Midland College’s vehicle insurance policy

SALARY

$20,262 per year. Excellent fringe benefits. Position pending budget approval by the board. Position available September 1, 2008.
