UPWARD BOUND COMPUTER TEACHER

This is a part-time position with the Midland College Upward Bound program. The position will not conflict with school hours. The teacher will instruct computer skills to high school students during the program’s Saturday Academies, approximately every other Saturday, September-May, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon (3 hours). Reports to Upward Bound Director and Academic Coordinate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with small groups of Upward Bound students to develop computer skill proficiency
• Be able to teach basic computer skills, word processing, Power Point, and other programs at high school level
• Conduct ongoing assessment of students abilities and needs

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Secondary teaching certification preferred or experience teaching computer skills
• Previous experience working with under-represented students preferred
• Qualities of integrity, dignity, cordiality, ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with groups as well as individuals
• Preference given to candidates who have a low-income and/or first generation college student background

SALARY:

$21.00 per hour for Bachelor’s degree; $29.00 per hour for Master’s degree. Excellent fringe benefits. Position funded through a grant.
