UPWARD BOUND PROJECT DIRECTOR

The Program Director will be responsible for the overall implementation of the Midland College UB program, the day to day operations of the project including planning, administering and supervising staff and budgeting.  The Director will serve as the program’s chief liaison to other college departments and the community.  This position reports to the Vice President of Student Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and coordinate curriculum especially designed to expose Upward Bound students to cultural events not usually available to disadvantaged youth
• Implement, supervise and evaluate project activities
• Oversee the development, implementation and operation of all activities and services necessary to achieve project objectives
• Serve as liaison between Midland College and community agencies and organizations, including presentations about the objectives
• Prepare and submit Annual Performance Report to US Department of Education and other required reports
• Research, prepare and submit proposals for renewal of project funding
• Participate in all functions of the project and TRIO workshops and conferences
• Develop support workshops for parents

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Five years experience as administrator of federal grant program and working with low-income, potential first-generation college students
• Knowledge of collegiate academic and financial aid procedures

Preferred:

• Master’s degree
• Five to ten years experience in Student Support services

SALARY

$35,000-$40,000 commensurate with education and experience.  Excellent fringe benefits.  Position funded through a grant.
