HELEN GREATHOUSE CHILDREN’S INFANT TEACHER/LAB INSTRUCTOR
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must follow all Texas Department of Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) Child Care Licensing regulations for day care centers and Midland College policies
- Dependability, attendance, adherence to all time policies, follow instructions, good job attitude, cooperation, flexibility, willingness to accept change and keep up with current trends in the field of Early Childhood Care and Development. Attain 20 clock hours of annual training in child care and development/early childhood education
- Implement health and safety standards as required by TDFPS, CPR and First Aid Certification, current FBI finger print scan, criminal history background check. Train and supervise student workers in health and safety standards
- Light daily cleaning of classroom environment, disinfecting, changing crib linens, light laundry
- Infant/toddler classroom responsible for daily/weekly schedule, routines, feeding, diapering, curriculum planning, parent information and communication, bulletin boards
- Provide positive interaction with infants, follow brain development activity recommendations, encourage language development, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Parent communication is required on a daily basis
- Assessment of infant/toddler’s growth and development, schedule parent conferences in the Fall and Spring of each year to discuss infants growth and development assessment results
- Monitor children’s records, release and emergency forms
- Other duties as assigned by the Director collaborate with other MC educational disciplines to provide interactive activities among students and children. Community involvement is required in assisting with workshops and training
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Must be 18 years of age, high school diploma or GED, English language proficient
- Skill: good reading and writing, organization, good communication with co-workers and parents
- Knowledge of Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Child Care Licensing Standards
- Basic computer knowledge
Preferred:
- Minimum Associates Degree in Early Childhood/Child Care and Development or a Basic Skills Certificate in Early Childhood/Child Development or 12 college credit hours in Early Childhood/Child Development or CDA
- Two to three years experience working with children ages 4 months through 24 months
SALARY
$1,774.00 per month. Excellent fringe benefits
