INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES LIBRARIAN
The Instructional Services Librarian is primarily responsible for delivering instruction on electronic learning resources and providing traditional reference services to students, faculty and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide assistance to students in both individual and group instruction in the use of print and electronic resources.
- Provide Reference Desk assistance at a minimum of 20 hours per week, including some nights and weekends.
- Serve as a liaison between the library and Distance Learning department to improve students’ access to electronic resources.
- Train faculty in accessing learning resources of special interest for professional growth and development.
- Assist in evaluation and selection of electronic and print resources supporting all programs at Midland College, including Baccalaureate.
- Serve as a liaison to electronic resources vendors on technical issues.
- Assist students of the University Center and similar programs in accessing Midland College’s electronic resources.
- Assist in outreach to distance learners at remote sites, such as the William RTTC, Cogdell Learning Center, Advanced Technology Center, and others.
- Conducts orientations and class tours as assigned.
- Create tutorials, brochures, bibliographies, reading lists, and other learning and information tools upon request, in both print and Web-based formats.
- Drive to Ft. Stockton and/or other campuses as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science, accredited by the American Library Association required.
- Two or more years of professional experience preferred.
- Knowledge of personal computers, printers, and data projectors.
- Knowledge of Blackboard, Dreamweaver, HTML/XML, or comparable instructional design and/or web design tools preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Database searching and web literacy skills.
- Ability to retrieve and return books to shelves, lifting materials up to 20 lbs.
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
SALARY
Salary range $40,000-$46,000 per year commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent fringe benefits.
