DEAN of ADULT and DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION
This position will supervise all Title V Activity staff and will lead all development efforts for the first activity initiative which focuses on the redesign of Developmental Education. The position will be institutionalized at an increasing percentage beginning in Year 2 and fully institutionalized as a Director of Developmental Education upon completion of the five year Title V project. The position will coordinate with the Vice Presidents of Instruction and Student Services to implement and institutionalize all Title V grant initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Activity staff in the timely completion of project objectives
- Supervise staff and completion of Implementation Strategies
- Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
- Assist faculty with capacity building
- Assist with ongoing formative and summative evaluation procedures
- Assist in institutionalizing Activity elements
- Responsible for development of Supplemental Instruction program
- Coordinate work of the Instructional Designer, Cogdell Transition Specialist, and selected faculty and staff to design a comprehensive Assessment, Placement, Advising, and Transition program
- Lead curriculum development in developmental education program
- Work with faculty to develop hybrid and accelerated developmental education program faculty to develop hybrid and accelerated development education coursework
- Ensure accountability for the developmental studies program and the success of at-risk students
- Collaborate with all campus stakeholders to facilitate institutionalization of project initiatives
- Complete monthly Personal Activity Forms to record time and effort toward Title V grant
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Master’s degree in developmental education, or related discipline
- Familiar with NADE Certifications
- Five years administrative experience
- Broad knowledge of educational instruction and knowledge of new methodologies, strategies, and tools, including use of technology, for meeting needs of underprepared students
- Experience in instructional design as well as project, budget and personnel management/evaluation
- Five or more years experience working with developmental and/or adult basic education students
- Experience in project, budget, and personnel management and evaluation
- Experience with under-prepared and limited language proficient students
- Excellent oral and written communication and leadership skills
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
Preferred:
- Doctorate degree in Adult or Developmental Education
- Completed Kellogg curriculum or is a certified Developmental Educator
- Community College experience
SALARY
$50,000-$60,000 per year. Position available October 1, 2008. Funded through a grant. Excellent fringe benefits.
