Students pursuing this degree should submit the HITT Application Packet (blue link above) to ensure that a spot is available.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE INTO THE HITT PROGRAMS:

HITT Admission Packets will only be accepted if they are submitted complete.  Completed packets will be logged in using the post-marked date or date hand-delivered to the office.  Admission to the program is on a first come - first serve basis.  Students will be notified in writing when they are accepted into the program.

NOTE:  Applications will be accepted beginning March 1st until the seats are filled. Once the seats are filled, a waiting list is established.  If a student leaves the program, the next person on the waiting list will be notified to begin the following semester.

Clinical Experience Requirements: Students will be required to have a TB titer, updated immunizations - including tetanus, liability insurance, and a drug screen prior to Clinical I, Clinical II or Coding Clinical.  Other documentation may be required by the specific clinical site according to their own policy and procedures for accepting students.

Four Year Completion Rule:  There is a four year limit for completing the core courses in the program (HITT courses and the computer application course) due to the fact that health information curriculum and competencies change often, and this will allow students to have current material to take credentialing exams. Supporting courses, or general academic courses are exempt from the four year requirement and include English, Math, Psychology, Art, Humanities, Speech, Pathophysiology, and Biology.  Part time students may want to consider taking all non-HITT courses before beginning the program so students do not have difficulty completing the HITT courses within the time frame allowed.
