Gaining Early Awareness Readiness for Undergraduate Programs GEAR UP is a federal grant program of the Department of Educations enacted in 1998. In it’s first year, over 450,000 students participated nationwide. GEAR UP teams with over 1,000 different organizations nationwide. Our GEAR UP is a federal grant program that is a cooperative partnership of the Department of Education, M.I.S.D, and Midland College. We are here to provide students with the tools, information, and motivation necessary to successfully navigate through High School and on into the promising world of College.
