Alfredo Chaparro is the director of Community Services at Midland College. Mr. Chaparro has extensive experience in overseeing programs funded by grants from the local, state, and federal levels. Mr. Chaparro has received bachelor's and master's degrees in Accounting. Mr. Chaparro was a CPA until September 2001 when he decided not to continue his licensure because he has chosen higher education administration as his career path. Mr. Chaparro's work experience includes Internal Auditor for a national bank, Accountant for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and Inventory Control Specialist for a small manufacturing company. Mr. Chaparro has served on the boards of Midland Affordable Housing Alliance (MAHA), Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (Director of Economic Development), and Midland Housing Finance Corporation (Treasurer).
Chuck Rivas is the Associate Director of the Midland College BEDC. He previously worked as a Loan Officer in the Financial Services Division of the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (AEDC). Chuck provided lending services through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Certified Development Company (504) Program and helped maintain the City of Amarillo's Community Development Micro-Loan Program. He also wrote and administered an EDA Grant for the construction of roadway improvements serving the Amarillo CenterPort Business Park. Prior to joining the AEDC, Chuck served as Economic Development Program Specialist for the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission (PRPC). At the PRPC, Chuck was responsible for the application, administration, and closeout of grants through the U.S. Economic Development Administration and the Texas Department of Agriculture for the Panhandle Region. Chuck graduated from Southwestern University with a B.A. in Communication and Business.
Imelda Catalan is a part-time Business, Credit and Housing Counselor at the Midland College BEDC. Prior to moving to Midland, TX in August of 2014, Imelda was a Loan Specialist at Rural Enterprise Assistance Project, a project of the Center for Rural Affairs in Nebraska. Imelda has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Professional Accounting from Hastings College, Hastings NE. Imelda’s experience include small business development and expansion, banking, insurance, and tax preparation. Imelda is bilingual in Spanish and English.
Paul McCord is a business, credit, and certified housing counselor for the BEDC. Paul is a certified homebuyer education trainer. Paul has been a self-employed Business Development Strategist and Consultant for the past seven years. He has sixteen years of business ownership experience. Paul is the author of two best selling business sales books, with another book out in the fall. He has authored over 100 articles published in media such as Business Week, Entrepreneur, Forbes, Reuters, and others. Paul has eleven years of banking and mortgage management experience. Paul has a bachelor's degree in Literature and Philosophy from Texas A & M Commerce.
Endy Sanchez is the BEDC Project Assistant. Endy graduated from Midland High in 2010 and is now currently attending Midland College. Endy is bilingual in Spanish and English.
