The Midland College Transportation Training program provides individuals with the proper training in order to obtain a CDL License to operate a commercial motor vehicle safely within the rules and regulations set by the Department of Transportation. We offer a four-week program that is 160 hours and consists of instruction in the classroom. Training is provided in pre-trip, post-trip,and backing. The last 80 hours involve actual hands-on driving by the student.

Upon completion of the class, the student will receive a Class A License with the ability of obtaining endorsements in Hazmat, Doubles and Triples and Tankers.

Like any career, semi-tractor trailer driving has its advantages and disadvantages. We encourage you to investigate this career thoroughly. The benefits of a driving career are:

 • Job freedom and independence

 • Maximum income potential with minimum investment of training, time and money (national median income was $35,000+ as of 2003)

Upon graduation, the student will be able to safely operate the vehicle upon the nation’s highways. The student will be trained to handle all types of traffic situations, along with varied vehicle lengths and weights. In addition to open-road driving, each student will have the opportunity to maneuver the vehicle through Midland ensuring that they become familiar with all types of traffic. The student will be trained and tested on pre-trip, during trip, post trip and circle of safety.
