Liz Zenteno
Liz Zenteno is the Director at the Cogdell Learning Center
and has been with Midland College since 2004. She invites
you to come by Cogdell and check us out. For Liz, the
best part of this job is making sure that Cogdell is a place
where people feel welcome and can discover what they want to
do and then get busy pursuing it. Liz takes a sincere
interest in the well-being and success of all students, and
thinks education is one of the best ways to discover one’s
potential. She currently serves as Vice Chair for the
Communities in Schools board of directors, participates in
MISD’s new Key Communicators program, is active with
Comunidad in Action and a member of the League of Women Voters. While
not at work, Liz is either busy with her family, working on
her graduate studies through Loyola University, or reading
a good book.. She loves foreign languages (especially
Spanish and French) and foreigners (she even married one!)
and is willing to try any foreign food.
Her favorite quote is something William Butler Yeats once said: “Education
is not the filling of a bucket but the lighting of a fire.” Liz’ draws
inspiration from Dorothy Day, Gandhi, Rigoberta Menchú,
Tich Nhat Hanh, César Chavez, Martin Luther King, Sojourner
Truth, Gabriela Mistral, Andrés Guljas and her own amazing
parents.
