Irma Ochoa

Irma Ochoa is an Office and Computer Lab Assistant for Cogdell Learning Center.  Irma joined the Cogdell team in October 2007.  Ochoa is also a recipient of the Bill Pace Cogdell Scholarship and is attending the University of Texas at the Permian Basin.  She has already received her Associates Degree of General Studies from Midland College.  Irma is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, with a minor in Bilingual Education and teacher certification.

As you visit the Cogdell Learning Center you will meet Irma’s friendly demeanor at the receptionist’s desk.   Her greatest delight is being able to help all visitors find the resources they need.  Irma’s love of teaching makes her a great advocate of higher education in our community.   She is teaching free computer classes in both English and Spanish in the newly remodeled Cogdell Computer Lab.  When not working or attending school,  Irma loves to spend time with her husband, Robert and daughters, Ruth and Ruby.  Her favorite quote is from Indian church leader, Ruby Manikan, “If you educate a man you educate a person, but if you educate a woman you educate a family.”
