| Midland College Criminal Justice Approved Credit for Training / Licensure Approval has been given by the Midland College Curriculum Committee to award credit for training and licensure or certifications as follows: Individuals pursuing either the Associate of Applied Science - Law Enforcement Degree* or the Law Enforcement Certificate* options at Midland College may be awarded credit to be applied toward this degree for the following: Any individual who has completed a licensed police academy after January 1, 1983, currently possesses a valid Texas Peace Officer license and is currently employed as a peace officer in Texas may be awarded 12 semester hours of credit as follows: CJSA 1322 (Introduction to Criminal Justice) CJSA 1313 (Court Systems and Practices) CJSA 1327 (Fundamentals of Criminal Law) CJSA 2300 (Legal Aspects of Law Enforcement) These courses apply towards the AAS - LE Degree as either required courses or Specialty Electives. Any individual who has completed the approved jailer course and is a licensed jailer in Texas may be awarded 3 semester hours credit as follows: CJCR 1300 (Basic Jail Course) This course may be substituted for another course in the degree plan with the consent of the program coordinator and approval of the Dean of Business Studies. Any individual who has completed the state-approved course and is a certified telecommunications officer/operator in Texas may be awarded 3 semester hours credit as follows: CJLE 1303 (Basic Telecommunications Certification) This course may be substituted for another course in the degree plan with the consent of the program coordinator and approval of the Dean of Business Studies. * Pursuing the AAS-LE Degree or Certificate means the student has declared Criminal Justice as their major, has a degree / certificate plan on file reflecting the AAS - LE degree option, and has taken some course work towards that degree.
