Participant Responsibilities

In order to complete the program and purchase a home or business asset with matched funds you must:

  • Complete the Money Smart program or a comparable financial literacy training program.
  • Create a habit of saving, making at least six consecutive monthly payments or nine deposits into a savings account in a twelve-month period.  The minimum initial deposit is $25 and the minimum monthly deposit required is $10.
  • Complete asset specific training, such as home-ownership training or business training or counseling.

If you are applying for this program to purchase a home, obtaining a mortgage and becoming a participant of one of the following housing provider programs is required.

  1. Midland Community Development Corporation (MDC),
  2. City of Midland Homebuyer Assistance Program (HAP) or
  3. Midland Habitat for Humanity (Habitat)
