What is the BAT degree?
The Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) degree is the degree of choice for students who have completed the requirements for or who have an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree at an accredited college in a technical field. The degree program builds on an occupational/technical program traditionally offered at community colleges, vocational and technical school, which serves as the major field of study. AAS degrees traditionally consist of coursework specific to occupational or technical fields that are not transferable into conventional academic baccalaureate degrees. Although, general education course work (core courses) can be applied to the core requirements.

The Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) degree consists of general education and technical courses complementing upper-level course work at the junior and senior level.

What is the difference between the Bachelor of Applied Technology (B.A.T.) degree and the Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree?
The Bachelor of Applied Technology (B.A.T.) degree is the degree of choice for students who have pursued an occupational/technical program traditionally offered at community colleges, vocational and technical school, which serves as the major field of study. It is a technology management degree that is suitable for students who are aspiring to become managers/supervisors in their area of specialization. The Bachelor of Applied Science degree is a non-management degree that is suitable for students who are seeking a more specialized degree in certain fields. Both Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) and Bachelor of Applied Technology (B.A.T.) degrees enhance and expand student's general education and technical core competencies.

How many credits are required to graduate?
127.

What happens after I submit my application on-line for the BAT program?
The Director of Admission for the baccalaureate program will review each application and notify each applicant within 48 hours to arrange a degree audit interview. Students must meet the BAT program admission requirements (see http://www.midland.edu/bachelor/bat-admissions.php) to be eligible for consideration into the program by the BAT Admission Committee.

How long does the admissions process take?
The Admissions Committee meets as needed, usually once or twice during each semester. Students who meet admission critieria should be admitted during this time.

If I have an AS degree, how many credits will be applied toward the BAT degree?
42 semester credit hours of approved core courses plus hours for technical courses within the approved A.A.S. degrees. See admission requirements for the bachelor program. (http://www.midland.edu/bachelor/bat-admissions.php).

Questions regarding the credit for courses into this program should be taken directly to the Director of Admissions for the baccalaureate program.

If I have an AAS degree, how many credits will be applied toward the BAT degree?
All credit hours of approved general education core courses and up to 36 semester credit hours of technical support courses.

I have taken similar lower-level classes 1000 or 2000 level can I apply these classes toward upper-level 3000 or 4000 level classes in the BAT program?
No. Freshman/Sophomore level courses 1000 or 2000 level can not be applied toward Junior/Senior level courses 3000 or 4000 level.

I have taken upper-level classes at a 4 year university can I apply 3000 or 4000 level courses toward the BAT program?
It is possible that some courses you have taken at an accredited 4-year college may be applied toward the BAT program requirement. But it would be best to consult the BAT program advisers to evaluate your transcripts from other institutions to determine if your previous work can be applied.

If I don't have an Associate degree but have at least 60 college credit hours can I be admitted into the bachelor program?
Yes, as long as your course work includes at least 15 hours of general education courses and 20 hours of technical specialty courses. See admission requirements (http://www.midland.edu/bachelor/bat-admissions.php) for bachelor the complete list of program admission requirements.

Contact the Program Office for course scheduling.

Can the BAT degree transfer in an MBA or Executive MBA program?
Accepting any degree into another institutions program is subject to the receiving institutions program admission requirements. Therefore, it depends.

Is financial aid available for the BAT Program?
