Coach Hilva is from Riverside, California. She attended Ramona High School and lettered in both softball and volleyball all four years. She made 1st team All League all four years, 2nd team C.I. F. her junior and senior years and received the Pepsi’s Female Player of the Year award her senior year. Upon graduating she attended Midland College for two years.
While at Midland College she helped lead the Lady Chaps to 118 wins, 16 losses and a trip to the 2003 NJCAA World Series. Mailei led the team in batting average, homeruns and was offensive player for the lady Chaps both years. She was recognized as an All WJCAC 1st baseman two years in a row and made first team Region V both years. As a sophomore Hilva made the NJCAA All American team. She was selected to the NJCAA all star softball team that played in the 2004 Summer Canadian Cup games.
After graduating from Midland College she transferred to New Mexico State University. As a junior she earned Player of the Week honors and was named to the Sun Belt second team all conference. As a senior Hilva was XBOX hitter of the week and made the WAC All conference second team. Coach Hilva received her Bachelors of Arts degree in History with a minor in psychology. |
