J.C. Women's Basketball: Lady Chaps win big at own tournament

The Midland College women's basketball team was nearly lights out from 3-point range on Friday night as the Lady Chaps made 15 from long range in a 108-51 blowout of Eastern Arizona College at the Chaparral Center.
Jessi Cowden led the way from behind the 3-point line as she connected on 6 of 8 shots, while Lauren Mansfield added three more and Robnesha Brigham, Titania Simmons and Tatiana Haynes each had two. Cowden led the Lady Chaps with 18 points.
Cowden was one of six players to finish in double figures as Mansfield had 15, Brigham 10, Simmons 10, Haynes 17 and Patricia Bright 11.
As a team, the Lady Chaps (2-0) shot better than 53 percent from the field.
Midland College concludes the Tip-Off Classic today with a game against Jacksonville College at 5 p.m. at Chaparral Center.
