The #4 ranked MC Chaparrals played through the physical play of the Western Texas Westerners Thursday night and emerged victorious in the match-up. The final score in the game was Midland College 79, Western Texas 63.
Western Texas, 11-5 and 1-2 in conference, employed a "ruff and tumble" style of play in an attempt to force the Chaparrals (16-1, 3-0) into an ugly and low scoring affair. However the Chaps had another idea, shooting 10 of 26 (38.5%) from the three-point line which opened up the lane for the Midland College post players.
Greg Hill and Adrian Van Buren led the scoring punch for the Chaps with 26 and 15 points respectively. David Terrell also poured in 11 points including a high flying dunk off a lobbed pass. The Chap men will also be in action on Saturday, January 10th in a 7:30 p.m. grudge match at the Chap Center with WJCAC rival Odessa College.
