Midland College is pleased to welcome Ross Hodge, his wife Shelly and their daughter Emery Lindon [Hodge] to our athletic department. Coach Hodge was most recently the head coach at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas (Texas Eastern Athletic Conference / NJCAA Region XIV).

Hodge replaces Grant McCasland who took the head coaching position at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.

In his three seasons at the helm of the PJC program, Hodge guided the Dragons to an 83-17 (.830) overall record including an appearance in the 2008 NJCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament in Hutchinson, KS. PJC finished 8th in the tournament that season. Under Hodge’s watch the Dragons recorded a 44-3 home record and he was named the TEAC Coach of the Year in 2006-2007 and NJCAA Region XIV Coach of the Year for 2007-2008.

Hodge’s playing career started at Seagoville High School under Leonard Bishop and collegiately at Paris Junior College where he was a two-year starter and led the team to consecutive regional championship games. Hodge earned an Associate of General Studies in 2001 from PJC.

Following his time at Paris JC, Hodge played for two years at Texas A&M University-Commerce where he was a two-year starter. He finished the 2001-2002 season ranked second nationally (NCAA-II) in assists per game. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from TAMU-C in 2003. After completing his playing career Hodge stayed on at TAMU-C as an assistant coach for two seasons.

When his former PJC coach, Bill Foy, called Hodge with an opportunity to return to Paris Junior College, he headed back to where it all started. Coach Hodge served as an assistant coach for one season under Foy. When his mentor (Foy) departed for the University of North Texas, Ross was tabbed as his successor.
