Coach Mudge just finished his first season as an assistant at Midland College and helepd lead the Chaparrals to a final record of 33-4, a final ranking of #6 in the nation and a berth in the national championship game. Coach Mudge is in charge of skill development and individual instruction of Chaparral guards and was heavily involved in scouting, game preparation, academic oversight and was responsible for recruiting many of the young men that have signed on to be future Chaparrals in the 2009-10 season.
Coach Mudge is a graduate of Stony Point in Round Rock, TX. At Stony Point , Mudge was the starting point guard and led his team to a top 10 ranking in the state.
Following his high school graduation, Mudge enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a BBA in Marketing in 2006. He also served in several important capacities with the UT men's basketball team including head manager, recruiting assistant, camp coordinator and assistant video coordinator.
In the summer of 2005, Coach Mudge was named manager of the USA National Basketball Team ( Dallas , TX and Miami , FL ) where he assisted coaches and players in drills and scrimmages during the team trials. He also assisted in training sessions to prepare for the Global Games and other international competitions.
After receiving his bachelor's degree, Mudge was elevated to graduate assistant with the Longhorns. His responsibilities included player skill workouts, assisting the video coordinator, film exchange coordinator, producing scouting and developmental edits for the team, creating a video playbook and drills notebook for the University of Texas coaching staff. He also supervised grad assistants and undergraduate office assistants. Chris earned his Master's in Kinesiology from the University of Texas (3.7 GPA) in May of 2008.
His considerable experience will make him a tremendous asset for Coach Ross Hodge and the Chaparrals. Coach Mudge's recruiting ties and strong work ethic will make him a highly successful coach for years to come.
