ituated in the Permian Basin region in western Texas , Midland is so named because it lies midway between Fort Worth , Texas and El Paso , Texas along US Interstate 20. Midland is part of a Metropolitan Statistical Area of nearly 225,000 people. Its primary industries include cattle, oil and cotton. Midland is a safe, family-friendly community that offers an abundant number of entertainment options. These options range from checking out one of Midland's professional sports teams to enjoying our growing restaurant and entertainment district and many more.

 

Midland is a highly diversified community, but it is its love of sports that sets it apart from most junior college towns. Midland College is home to 17 NJCAA National Team Championships. Midland College alumni include Anthony “Spud” Webb (NBA), Daron “Mookie” Blaylock (NBA), Milton Palacio (NBA), Jerome Beasley (NBA/CBA), Nathan Jawai (NBA), Amisha Carter (WNBA), Chad Campbell (PGA), Andrew Coltart (European PGA), Kenneth Ferrie (European PGA), Dean Robertson (European PGA) and minor league baseball players Matt Overmann (Florida Marlins organization), Jim Henderson (Washington Nationals organization), Josh Haney (Kansas City Royals organization), Kyle Yates (Toronto Blue Jays organization), Felix Peguero (Kansas City Royals organization), Ben Thomas (Atlanta Braves organization), Scott VanderWeg (St. Louis Cardinals organization). Midland and Citibank Ballpark are home to the Oakland A's AA Affiliate of the Oakland A's, the Midland Rockhounds.
