The #1 Midland College Chaparrals improved to 18-0 on the year and more importantly 2-0 in WJCAC play with a hard fought 65-57 win over South Plains College.
In a very physical matchup of two tough and disciplined teams, the Chaps defense came through holding SP to 36% shooting from the floor and a +10 rebounding margin for the game.
Darrell Williams (6'8 SO Forward) scored 18 points to go along with his 15 rebounds to lead the Chaps in both categories. Guy Landry (6'5 FR Guard) added 14 points and 4 rebounds and Jonathon Simmons (6'7 SO Guard) had 12 points and 7 assists in the winning effort.
The Chaps continue WJCAC Conference play next Monday, January 18th at 7:45 pm at New Mexico Junior College.
