MIDLAND, TEXAS - Going into the 2009-2010 season, expectations are lofty for both MC basketball teams. The Lady Chaps are the pick to win this year's conference race, while the Chaps were named the preseason second place team in the WJCAC.

Each of the WJCAC head coaches were asked to rank conference teams in order from first to last, however, they were not allowed to vote on their own team. After the votes were tabulated, the Lady Chaps were the preseason's top team. The Chaps finished second behind South Plains College on the men's side.

Preseason rankings are a strong indication of how coaches feel about their opponents, but are not considered to be the most accurate indicator of a team's ability.

For example, the MC men's team was picked second in the conference preseason poll behind South Plains College. However, The Sporting News, a national publication similar in stature to Sports Illustrated picked the Chaps as the #2 ranked team in the country behind Three Rivers College, MO.

No matter what this year promises to be another great season for both MC basketball teams!!
